AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York

of Arts).AMDA College of the Performing Arts is seeking a
passionate and innovative faculty member to join our team in the MA
in Performance Studies, with a concentration in Arts Education
Program. This one-year graduate program offers PED501 Pedagogy and
Curriculum Planning I. This course offers an interdisciplinary
approach to crafting course design, advanced pedagogy, and
innovative curriculum planning within the dynamic field of
performing arts education. The ideal candidate will play a vital
role in shaping the next generation of educators, fostering
critical thinking, and advocating for equity, diversity, and
inclusion in the classroom.The MA in Performance Studies, with a
concentration in Arts Education, is a one-year graduate program
designed to provide students with a comprehensive and
interdisciplinary exploration of course design, advanced pedagogy,
and equity in the classroom. The program emphasizes the development
of critical perspectives on the diverse pedagogical approaches and
historical contexts that have influenced the evolution of
performing arts education. Through rigorous research, critical
examination, and innovative thinking, students are equipped to
become advocates for meaningful change in educational contexts,
fostering a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.Primary
Responsibilities:
- Teach core course focusing on pedagogy, curriculum development,
and innovative teaching strategies in performing arts
education.
- Demonstrate expertise in the history of performing arts
education, including familiarity with key figures, movements, and
pedagogical approaches.
- Apply rigorous research methods, critical examination, and
innovative thinking.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and mentorship skills.
- Providing instruction in accordance with curricula, course
outlines, and class schedules.
- Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes
learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical
thinking.
- Providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion
content.
- Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters
and assessing student work.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and
ethics.
- Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct
faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Performing Arts, Theatre Studies,
Education, Performing Arts studies or a related field is
required.
- A Ph.D. is preferred in Performing Arts, Theatre Studies,
Education or related fields.
- 3 year minimum with teaching graduate-level courses, with a
focus on innovative and inclusive pedagogical practices creating an
engaging student-centered learning environment.
- Expertise in pedagogy and curriculum design, particularly in
performing arts education.
- Demonstrated expertise in the history of performing arts
education, including familiarity with key figures, movements, and
pedagogical approaches.
- Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional
field.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and
practices that enhance student success at higher education
institutions, including effective use of technology.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal
skills.
- Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and
providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.
- Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline
expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging
performing artists, in an online environment.
- Active scholarship in related field.Position Information:
- The pay range for this position is $45.00/hour - $60.00/hour.
For administrative tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom
teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $35.
- This position is subject to a background check upon a
conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
